his hat makes him look taller, pinstripes on his trousers make his legs look longer, he’s walking down stairs in front of the lorax- the lorax has no choice but to take steps back and lower the height even more, and the once-ler is waving his arms around and the lorax is shielding himself from it and making himself look smaller and more compact and sobs the body language is perfect

Also, don’t forget that there’s no rail on the side of those stairs that really… needs a rail. Seriously, most dangerous stairs ever. And the poor Lorax is being forced down them backwards. A couple of wrong steps at this point and he’d have fallen off the side.

So not only is the Once-ler screaming at the Lorax while making himself as threatening as possible, he’s actually forcing the Lorax into a dangerous and threatening situation.
